  1. What is the required qualification of candidates who can apply in PGTP?

  12. I have applied for PGTP but I have received no reply. My name is also not present either in the eligible or ineligible candidate’s list given on the website. What should I do?

  13. My name is in the eligible candidate’s list but I have not received the Admit Card. What should I do?

  14. My Test Center is Multan but I want to appear in Lahore Center for Written Test. Can I do that?


Q-1  What is the required qualification of candidates who can apply in PGTP?
 

Ans.  Following is required qualification criteria for PGTP

  • Only B.E or B.Sc. (Engineering) of following (or equivalent) fields, can apply for this program.

  •  B.Sc. Engineering / BE in Mechanical

  • B.Sc. Engineering / BE in Electrical

  • B.Sc. Engineering / BE in Electronics

  • B.Sc. Engineering / BE in Chemical

  • B.Sc. Engineering / BE in Industrial Electronics

  • B.Sc. Engineering / BE in Computer Systems

  • B.Sc. Engineering / BE in Mechatronics

 

  • This should be a four-year Engineering degree and must be recognized by Pakistan Engineering Council.

  • Candidates with only first division in academic career can apply. However on second division either in SSC or HSC is allowed.

  • Maximum age for this program is thirty year on 24-May-2008.

Q- 2    How many trainees are required for this program and what is the quota for different provinces?

Ans.    Maximum number of seats are 110. 70 candidates will be selected for CHASCENT and 40 candidates will be selected for KINPOE. There is no distribution of number of seats on regional basis. Trainees are selected purely on merit. CHASCENT will select only Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Systems and Chemical engineers. KINPOE will select Mechatronics and Industrial Electronics engineers in addition to the above mentioned fields.

Q-3  Where will Written Test be conducted?

Ans.    Written Tests will be conducted in major cities of Pakistan. Test Centers will be assigned to the candidate based on his choice in Application Form. Address of your Test center will be intimated to you through Admit Card which you will receive after verification of your eligibility. Address of the Test Center can also be seen at our website after they are finalized.

Q-4      Can I get the sample test for the PGTP program?

Ans.    Sample test paper will be mailed to the eligible candidates along with the Admit Card after verifying their eligibility. It is also available for downloading from our website.

Q-5      I have done M.Sc. Physics. Can I apply for PGTP?

Ans.    Graduates of M.Sc. Physics are  not eligible in this program, therefore you can not apply.
However, M.Sc. Physics and M.Sc. in Applied Physics can apply in another program of our Institute. Each year, our Institute offers a  Two-year Master of Science (MS) program in Nuclear Power Engineering. The Admission process of this program is expected to be announced in the last week of May 2008.

Q-6       I have Second Division (marks less than 60%) in both SSC and HSC; Can I apply for PGTP?
 

Ans. Only one second division, (either in SSC or HSC) except in the final degree is allowed. Since you have second divisions in both SSC and HSC, therefore, you are not eligible to apply.

Q- 7      I am only one day over age. Can I apply?

Ans. Maximum age limit for this program is 30 years on May 24, 2008. You are overage and therefore, are not eligible to apply.

Q- 8      My result will not be announced before the commencement of the classes, can I apply? 

Ans. You can apply without your final year result, but in order to be selected, you must have your final result before July 20, 2008.

Q-9     My final year percentage in Bachelor of Engineering is 59.9%. Can I apply in your program?

Ans.     Only first division is required in B.E./B.Sc. degree. If you are declared as passed in First division in your Final Degree and Marks Sheet, then you are eligible to apply.

Q-10     I have done my Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from a foreign university of very good repute. Can I apply for your program?

Ans. You can apply but  you have to  provide us a Certificate of Equivalence from Pakistan Engineering Council stating that your Bachelor of Engineering degree is equivalent to Bachelor of Engineering degree in Pakistan.

Q-11       I am a Biomedical Engineer and fulfill all the other advertised criteria. We are taught all the subjects of Electronics Engineering and I think that my degree is equivalent to Bachelor of Electronics Engineering. Can I apply as Electronics Engineer?

Ans. In order to accept you as equivalent to B.E. / B.Sc. Electronics Engineer, you need to send us an Equivalency Certificate from Pakistan Engineering Council stating that Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering is equivalent to Bachelor of Electronics Engineering. Same is valid for all other similar engineering fields.

Q-12   I have applied for PGTP but I have received no reply. My name is also not present either in the eligible or ineligible candidate’s list given on the website. What should I do?

Ans. We update the list of eligible and ineligible candidates as we receive Applications, so keep checking these lists.
It is also possible that we have not received your Application because of some reasons. If you fulfill all the advertised criteria and your name is not in the ineligible candidate’s list, then bring the photocopies of your Application Form, Bank Draft and original National Identity Card at the Test Center on the Test day. We will let you appear in the Test on the condition that you will send us the Bank Draft before the Interview.

Q-13   My name is in the eligible candidate’s list of the website, but I have not received the Admit Card. What should I do?

Ans. Please note down the Registration Number from that list and inform us. If there is time, we will send you a fresh Admit Card, if not then you may reach the Test Center along with the following documents:

  • Original NIC

  • & Registration Number
  • Photocopy of Bank Draft

  • Photocopy Application Form

Q- 14   My Test Center is Multan but I want to appear in Lahore Center for Written Test. Can I do that?

Ans. You can appear in any Test Center but prior approval from the Joint Admission Cell is necessary. You will need the original Admit Card and National Identity Card along with the photocopy of the Application Form.
